Afolabi Brown, husband of media personality Morayo Afolabi Brown, has shared how misleading advice nearly affected their marriage, revealing that the couple spent their first three years together arguing constantly.
Speaking during an appearance on his wife's television show, Afolabi said their marriage was filled with frequent yelling in its early years. However, things took a positive turn after about five years when he realised he could trust his wife completely.
According to him, many people advised him not to be too kind or accommodating towards his wife, warning that she would take advantage of him. He said it was his father who eventually corrected that mindset.
“The first three years of my marriage, there used to be a lot of yelling. But after five years, I realised I could trust my wife with everything.
“I was fed a lot of wrong information in the early years of my marriage. I was told not to be too soft for my wife or else I would be taken for granted. Thankfully, my dad was there to correct me,” he said.
Afolabi also revealed that he and Morayo abstained from sex before marriage, explaining that the decision was influenced by his mother-in-law, who appealed to him to wait until after the wedding and assured him that God would honour the sacrifice.
His remarks echo an earlier revelation by Morayo Afolabi Brown, who previously confirmed that they did not have premarital sex. She, however, stressed that abstaining before marriage does not automatically guarantee a happy or successful union.
The couple got married in 2011 and have four children together, three daughters and a son.
